In our artwork, value isn’t about how much something costs or if it improved something, it is solely referring to how light some areas of the work are compared to others, how dark some areas are, and if there is a high contrast of value between these areas.
A lot of times you hear people talking about value in terms of black and white and greys. This is why black and white photography is so successful, color is great, but subtle or great changes in value make a work engaging and easy for us humans to see and enjoy.
